A good friend of mine, Arkady Faktorovich, who grew up in the Soviet Union and was able to depart from that communist nightmare in 1978, called me a couple days ago because he wanted to tell me about a book he read. The book was "1984" by George Orwell, and it brought new understanding to him when he hears me refer to Obama's madness as "Orwellian."
I suggested to him to read "Animal Farm," as well, but he indicated that he did read that allegory already, and that is what led him to "1984."
Having read 1984 a number of times, I was able to relate to him some of what I drew from the pages of the book. 1984 is a long time member of my immense library. I am an avid reader.
In Orwell's future totalitarian socialist state of the book, 1984, there is little left of any remnant of a free society. The world of Winston Smith is a negative utopia that exists as a result of the pursuit of utopia through socialist policies. The progression of the political system, under liberal guidance, becomes Big Brother; a centralized system that controls the people through nanny-state policies, a constant barrage of propaganda, a change in definitions of language (including a term coined by Orwell called "double-speak"), constant surveillance, a denial of the past (not unlike Bradbury's "Fahrenheit 451" in many ways), misinformation through a state controlled information system, suppression of truth, revision of history, and a relativistic attitude where right is wrong and wrong is right - in other words, a liberal's wet dream.
In 1984, individualism is a danger to the State, so the Orwellian system denies individuality. Collectivism is the order of the day. Only actions best for the State are acceptable, and even your thoughts can be held suspect. Improper thoughts are not tolerated in an Orwellian society, for only what is acceptable to the political elite that runs society is allowed to be in existence.
Remember when Obama and his White House gang of idiots demanded that people who "report disinformation about Obamacare" be reported? Of course, their definition of disinformation was anything said that disagrees with their agenda.
Thought crimes?
Now, the Left has "Attack Watch", which reveals even more of the paranoia by the liberal left about any opposition to their supposed political power. Attack Watch, however, goes a little further than did the Obamacare disinformation ploy. In Attack Watch, you can report your friends, neighbors, bloggers, reporters, news outlets or anyone else who says things that oppose the propaganda or policies of the Obama machine.
Perhaps we could call it Obama's "Truth Ministry."
Obama's Orwellian paranoia against anyone that disagrees with him is reaching critical mass. Of course, Obama's words themselves betray the deep down narcissistic thoughts of elitism that infests the feeble mind of Barry Obama.
While pitching his "American Jobs Act," which is more heavy spending and anti-American socialist agenda gone wild, Obama said, "This is a bill that Congress needs to pass. No games, no politics, no delays. I am sending this bill to congress today and they ought to pass it immediately."
Think about what he said, for a moment. He wants no debate. In fact, remember that he "scolded Congress" (the media's words, not mine) over the debate and disagreements over the debt ceiling legislation. That's because discussion, debate, and any disagreement with his demands will not be tolerated by Barry. He expects the Congress to pass his bill without discussion, without disagreement, and because he said so.
If one was to describe this situation without telling you who it was demanding such actions by Congress (and for you liberals, what if it was Bush?), wouldn't the word "dictator" come to mind?
Or, maybe perhaps, Orwellian?
