Shooting at Brooklyn Parade

Where gun control is at its strictest, gunfire erupted near the West Indian Day Parade in Brooklyn, New York. This shooting follows an epidemic of shootings in the New York City area over the past two days.

A total of 39 people had been shot in the city since Saturday morning.

The shooter fired a bunch of shots into the air before hopping into a cab and fleeing. The alleged shooter is in custody, after fleeing from the cab, and tossing his gun.

One of the people shot over the weekend died after a gunshot wound to the chest in Brooklyn. Police sources believe that three of the shootings this morning are connected to the pre-dawn festivities leading up to today's West Indian Day parade.

Mayor Bloomberg's response has been to demand that the federal government step up their efforts to get illegal weapons off the streets. In the end what this will wind up becoming is the government yanking guns out of the hands of law-abiding citizens, and the criminal element still finding a way to get their hands on guns. London did that, and since guns were said to have been taken off of the streets, violent crimes have gone up.

These shootings have nothing to do with the guns, and everything to do with the people using them. This is what happens when the level of morality in a system drops. One of the factors involved is the entitlement system. When you teach a society not to be responsible for themselves, and that private property or creating wealth is a bad thing, you wind up with a group of citizens that have no respect for authority, individual rights, and personal property. When you have a society that has been taught to kill the unborn, pull the plug on the ill, and encourage death panels for the elderly, you wind up with at group of citizens that has no respect for life.
